Storyline:
No one can escape from the aggressive predatory Xenomorphs, and shortly after the Antarctic bloodshed in AVP: Alien vs. Predator (2004), a crippled Predator ship crash-lands on the dense forest of Gunnison, Colorado. As a result, a vicious Predalien hybrid, along with numerous Stage 1 Xenomorphs, or Face-huggers, scatter in all directions, infecting everyone unfortunate enough to cross their path. Once more, the Earth is a battlefield, as both extraterrestrial species are fighting for supremacy, and the humans become stuck in the middle. Now, the fate of the entire city rests in the hands of Sheriff Eddie Morales, and a handful of residents. Can they ensure the fate of humankind?

Okay, for the record, I might not be the "typical" A vs P fan. I am a 39 yr old female who works full time for the government. But, the Predator is my absolute favorite movie monster. He is brilliantly designed; the look, the sound, the attitude, everything about the Predator is brilliant. When I saw that a second A vs P movie was coming out, I was SO excited. To any critics: Movies are about ENTERTAINMENT. When I see a movie, I rarely want it to make me "think" or examine life in a serious context. I want to be: 1) thrilled 2) scared 3) excited 4) delighted and 5) ENTERTAINED. This movie, I am hoping, will do all 5. THANK YOU to the person behind the initial creation of the Predator creature - he's awesome. To the undecided movie goer: if you like sci-fi and/or action movies, and you can suspend all sensible common thought for about 2 hours and just enjoy yourself, you'll like this one. The stories are usually solid enough to support the action. Enjoy!

If you're looking for an action sci-fi movie, there's a lot of action in the sci-fi vein, and if you're looking for ignorant violence to children, it's in here, too. Why have a young boy's chest burst open with an alien? Why have a pregnant woman's belly burst open with several of these things? Why have a hungry alien enter the newborns' ward of a hospital, showing us the children in cribs? Oh, to be fair, we don't see the eating of the newborns; that'll probably be in the deleted scenes on the DVD when it comes out. I rate it So-So because the action with the predator and adult humans v. all those aliens was sci-fi entertainment, but there was no entertainment in violence to innocents. I'm sure the writers will proudly claim they were breaking new ground, but this isn't reporting reality for the NY Times or the Associated Press; they were supposed to write a screenplay for a sci-fi movie. Cut out the violence to children, and then you've got a Go movie.

I often wonder who Hollywood gets to screen its films. Only 5 minutes into this movie and you realize it is total crap. The script is horrible and choppy. The writer cannot make up his mind about whether this movie is some kind of summer blockbuster ensemble cast film or a horror movie. The film has way to many characters. This is not Breakfast Club or Independence Day. The writers should have focussed on the battle between the monsters and not try and tell a heart warming story. The acting is bad. The town sheriff looks like he is on the verge of tears the entire film and serves no purpose. I assume the GI Jane character is a fond remembrance of Ripley. Give us Ripley not a weak imitation. You know things are bad when half the movie is set in a rain storm. It means the film lacks the CGI department needed to really pull it off. I truly hope the sequel will go direct to video tape or dvd. Good or bad at least the first installation had a better story line.

I was a fan of the first two Alien movies(Everything after was just sad)and both of the Predator flicks...even the first AVP.So naturally I looked forward to this installment.Boy was I disappointed and even disturbed!AVPR picks up right where the first left off.An alien/pred hybrid bursts from the chest of a pred aboard the mothership subsequently causing it to crash. But werent there like 30 preds aboard this ship? Now there are only 2??On to the effects, the alien blood is still acid, but only seems effective when its convenient.Creature effects were good although they were shot dark. The only recognizable and competent actor,is Reiko Aylesworth of 24 fame. The story is very predictable and unfortunately, takes a dark, disturbing turn.Newcomer directors"The Strause Bros"thought it would be neat to"shock"the audience and cross the lines. But killing children, pregnant women, and babies,is just sick!!! Instead of making a name for themselves, they single handedly killed the franchise! -DJ
